Real Life With Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis
About The Book:
This book helps readers identify if they have undiagnosed celiac disease. For those already diagnosed, the author, joined by more than 50 experts, share their knowledge of problems related to celiac disease and gluten-related disorders. Discover recommended treatments and lifestyle changes, and their outcomes. Learn proper nutritional guidelines and how to eat gluten free even while dining out or traveling, how to support a friend or family member and who should be tested and much more.
My Thoughts:
I do not have, or know, anyone with Celiac Disease, though it is becoming more and more common. I did get on the gluten-free train though, especially since I had two sons, and Autism effects more boys than it does girls. So of course, me being me, I got all concerned with that. I enjoyed this book. I could skim through it and read what I found interesting and what pertained to me. And really, this book can be helpful to help you live a healthier lifestyle. You'd be surprised at how changing a few small things in your daily life can make you feel 100% better, even when you did not know you weren't feeling 100%! A good informative read!
About The Author:
Melinda Dennis was diagnosed with celiac disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis (an associated skin rash) in 1992 when celiac disease was considered to be very uncommon. Following my passion for teaching, I became a registered dietitian in order to teach the gluten-free diet and lifestyle to others. I received my Master of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College in Boston, MA, completed my clinical internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and became an Outpatient Dietitian, specializing in celiac disease.
